gTLD vs ccTLD (.pl)

Recommended Posts

Czesc,

Congratulations on this forum, although I don't understand enough Polish to make sense of it all.

Some of my domains are in Polish, however they are all gTLD (mainly .com). I would appreciate any input from domainers / investors in Poland about the relative importance / value given to gTLD domains (e.g. com, net, org) vs ccTLD .pl domains in the Polish language. I assume that the ccTLD are stronger and more highly valued, is this correct?

Any input and clarification is appreciated, thanks.

IMHO Polish keyword in .PL is always more valuable than any other TLD (even .COM)

So far :)

Hi Activa,

yes that's correct :)

Polish ccTLD are stronger and more highly valued in Poland that gTLD.

Second most popular domain name in our country after *.pl is gTLD *.com, but the most valuable are only strong generic keywords.

Ps. my good advice - dont reg *.com.pl ;)

Regards

Hi Activa!

You should focus on .pl extension rather than .com, .net, .org etc. You can also try .eu domain - it can be more popular in the future but it's not good TLD for all keywords.

ccTLD .pl is king in Poland. I would say that .com is not more than 10-20% of the value of .pl domain (comparing the same polish keyword).

Yes - hard to not to agree with you ;)

„You cannot be sure that the new web addresses will be adopted for ever. The value of .eu domains will be known within several years. Much depends on how the European integration goes”, Daniel Dryzek stressed.

I'd take klimatyzacje.com and zloto.net - that's for sure. Bankowy.* is not bad also. Quite nice domains you have.

IMHO everything depends on keyword. If you have strong commercial keyword with .com, your value will be way more than 10-20% of .pl

I would say it could be as much as 50-70%, depends on character of content and merit of particular domain.

Of course by strong keyword I mean something that it could be equivalent to english words: attorneys, classifieds, laptops, phones etc etc.

from your list the best one IMO is: klimatyzacje.com

The rest is OK, but nothing special
